Florida's Jadan Baugh apologizes after 13-yard day in 45-17 loss at Missouri
The early Heisman contender texted Jon Sumrall on Sunday. The Gators ran for 42 yards and gave up 560 as Missouri ended a nine-game skid against ranked teams.

Florida running back Jadan Baugh sent Jon Sumrall a text on Sunday, the day after the Gators were run out of Columbia: "I'm sorry, coach. I won't let that happen again. I didn't play my best." Sumrall shared the message Monday, ESPN reported.
Baugh came into the weekend as one of the early Heisman names, with 600 yards and 11 touchdowns during a 4-0 start. Missouri held him to 13 yards on 12 carries. He gained 12 on his first run and one yard on the next 11.
Sumrall did not pin it on his back. "We didn't do enough to help him as a team on Saturday in my opinion, and I don't think he was his best either," he said, calling it the "most exposed" his offensive line has looked this season.
The numbers behind 45-17
- Florida ran for 42 yards on 25 attempts, a week after piling up 302 in a 52-28 upset of then-No. 4 Ole Miss.
- The defense gave up 560 yards, 220 on the ground. Missouri quarterback Austin Simmons went 23 of 30 for 340 yards and two touchdowns.
- Four Missouri plays, two runs and two passes, covered 235 yards.
- The Gators are now last in the SEC in pass defense at 266.6 yards a game and 13th in scoring defense.
Missouri had lost nine straight games to ranked opponents before Saturday. The result flipped both teams in the AP poll: Florida fell from No. 8 to No. 16, Missouri jumped from No. 25 to No. 14.
Next: South Carolina
Florida (4-1) hosts South Carolina on Saturday at 12:45 p.m. ET on SEC Network. Sumrall said safety Bryce Thornton, a late scratch at Missouri with a soft tissue injury, might be available. The Gamecocks (2-3) are coming off a 35-34 home loss to Kentucky, and Shane Beamer said edge rusher Dylan Stewart's status for the trip has not been decided.
ESPN's playoff bubble watch still has Florida in the mix, with the Ole Miss win doing a lot of work. The Gators' schedule still has Texas and Georgia on it. Lines for Saturday are on the Florida team page.
